Inspired by the song “Teardrop” by Massive Attack, this piece sprung from a visualisation of tears burning and evaporating as a symbolic image for the purging of hard-felt emotions.
The day I finally drew a line beneath my career as a dancer was overwhelmingly filled with tears, a huge sense of loss and lack of belonging, I knew those feelings wouldn’t leave me easily. This visualisation was my way of helping myself to believe I could find my new purpose, remembering that I had already lived through worse and carried that history before, life goes on and I didn’t have to shun the sadness to carry on, I just needed to accept it.
